Our business is to help others develop the skills and strategies they need to become successful. Those skills and strategies include improving literacy abilities, providing literacy products and services, coaching, consulting, and mentoring.
I help parents do a better job parenting. I challenge them to think and to plan for the life of their child, and I ask them to show their commitment by writing a plan that will grow their child into an adult that they will like.
I tell parents that most parents spend more time planning for a child’s first birthday party than they do in planning for the rest of the child’s life. And when parents do plan, it is usually only in education and finances. What about the rest of the child’s life?
I share my ideas with others for three reasons: 1) the family is the most important unit on the planet; 2) if families are empowered in every area of their lives, our world will change; and 3) God’s blessings must be shared with other parents so that they too may experience joy and peace in children rearing.
With over 33 years of parenting experience (five children), I share my insight and ideas of practical application with families. These experiences and my tenure in the church and education have provided me with a unique perspective of knowledge and understanding about what it takes to rear successful children.
My experiences have been shaped by single parenthood and my faith in God through His Son, Jesus Christ. As a single parent, I learned to lean and depend on God in ways that stretched and grew my faith and instilled a bountiful determination to rear godly children. As a parent, I reflected on what I wanted each child to look like as an adult and began to think about the daily action steps I had to take in my life. It was never perfect, but my life was always focused on achieving my best life with God’s help.
My book, The Intentional Parenting Plan (TIPP), is a study in parenting that addresses parenting issues from a Christian perspective. TIPP is challenging parents of all walks to re-examine daily decisions as they parent, to plan in writing, and to take appropriate action steps to rearing godly children.
